Personal Stories
Johnson Godwin, aged 21

Johnson came here from the Delta state of Warri, in Nigeria, in October 2003. He has lost contact with his family and does not know if they are still alive. "I've sent loads of letters back home but I never got any replies from them and I got my letter brought back to Ireland unclaimed."
Johnson was offered an interview with DIT for a course in automotive management and technology, but is prohibited from doing the course as an asylum seeker. He has done level two leader's training with Foroige, and a child protection course with the Eastern Health Board. Johnson was refused asylum, and has applied for leave to remain on humanitarian grounds.
